Gina Maria Parody d’Echeona (born on 13 November 1973) is a Colombian politician from Colombia. She was born in Bogota in 1973, Parody graduated as a lawyer at Pontifical Xavierian University and became an elected politician. She was Director for the National Learning Service (SENA) as well as as a Senator as a member in the Chamber of Representatives of Colombia and, most recently, serving as the Minister of Education.
In May of 2011, Parody announced her candidacy for the office of Mayor of Bogota. Because she was not running with the backing of any political party she collected signatures as an affiliate of the citizen movement. she ended up losing to Gustavo Petro.
She resigned the Ministry of Education in October 4, 2016, shortly after the referendum of the Colombian peace process was voted as “No”. It is believed it had to do with sex-ed schoolbooks called “Ambientes Escolares Libres de Discriminación” (Discrimination-Free School Environments) that were accused of promoting homosexuality and gender ideology. Former president Álvaro Uribe and former Inspector General Alejandro Ordóñez joined the campaign against said schoolbooks.
Then, in January of 2009 Gina Parody announced that she would be resigning from her seat on the Colombian Congress. The replacement for Parody is Marcos Cortes.

Following her return back to Colombia Parody was an advisor for Maria Isabel Rueda between 1998 until 2000. Parody was later a participant in the campaign for the president of Alvaro Uribe during the 2002 presidential election. Uribe advised that she be an independent candidate in the Chamber of Representatives of Colombia to represent Bogota in the 2002 legislative elections. Parody was the second-highest voter turnout in Bogota just behind Gustavo Petro.
In the elections for the legislature in 2006, Parody made the decision to sign up with in the Social National Unity Party and run for a seat in the Senate. Parody was elected and tried to run as a presidential candidate of the Congress of Colombia and senate however her party decided to select Dilian Francisca Toro. Parody was instead elected as Presidency of the First Commission of the senate. Because of the discord within the party, Parody arranged an opposition with her senatorial colleagues Marta Lucia Ramirez and Armando Benedetti, as well as chamber representative Nicolas Uribe.
On August 20, 2014, Parody was appointed as the new Education Minister by President Juan Manuel Santos, replacing María Fernanda Campo Saavedra.
