in 2015 Maitland assumed the position as Head of Kingdom Percussion Academy which is part of the Kingdom Youth Brass Initiative where students learn groups, ensembles, and solo drums using professional equipment that is that is not typically available in Scotland. She also serves as the Director of Percussion for the Kingdom Championship Brass Band, situated within Cowdenbeath, Fife.
Maitland made her debut with her album “Plocanan” in the year 2014. The album includes vibraphone and marimba as well as works composed by Debussy and Bach and also contemporary works. The album also features the world’s first recorded version of Robert Paterson’s “MerryGo Round’, the first solo with 6 mallets composed in 1990.

In 2005, following her performance of marimba for members of the G8 Wives in Glamis Castle and winning the prize for Angus Youth Ambassador Maitland received an outstanding PS80,000 award through the Donald Dewar Arts Awards to study with famous Ney Rosauro in the University of Miami Frost School of Music. In September 2007 during the third semester of her study she suffered a accident that resulted to her leg becoming permanently paralyzed beneath the knee. Maitland was required to go back to her home in Scotland to learn how to walk again, using the aid in a foot orthotic for her ankle. However, due to the duration of her rehabilitation, Maitland was not able to finish her degree.
After a long process of recovery, Maitland gained the funding to purchase a 5 octave marimba in 2009. That was the year that she was also made officially an Encore Mallets Endorser. Maitland was then able to sing at the request of Prince Charles at the 20th anniversary of the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust.
