Gilles Binya is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on August 29, 1984 in Yaounde, Cameroon. Gilles Augustin Binya (born 29 August 1984) is a Cameroonian retired footballer who was defensive midfielder.

On the national scene, Binya finished the campaign with 16 league appearances benefiting from absences due to the first choice holding midfielder of the team, Portuguese international Petit. In 2008-09, he was utilized very rarely, yet he still racked up four yellow cards over 7 games (including 2 in the 2-0 loss to C.D. Trofense) and at conclusion of the season, he was judged not enough, and went on to take a loan at the Swiss club Neuchatel Xamax.

Birthed at Yaounde, Binya signed with S.L. Benfica for 2007-08 , after having spent three years with Algerian team MC Oran. At the start of the season, the Portuguese had planned to loan him out to fellow Primeira Liga side C.F. Estrela da Amadora for a year, however with the replacement by coach Fernando Santos for Jose Antonio Camacho the loan was canceled and the player was left at Benfica.

Binya was first invited for selection to Cameroon nation’s national side in October 2007 by the national coach Otto Pfister. Then, he was selected to represent the country at the 2007 Africa Cup of Nations, which was where Cameroon came second behind Egypt and Egypt.
