Gilbert McAdam is one of the most popular and richest Australian Rules Footballer who was born on March 30, 1967 in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. Gilbert McAdam (born 30 March 1967 in Alice Springs) is an Indigenous Australian former Australian rules football player . He is also one of the three McAdam brothers who play on the Australian Football League (AFL).

McAdam quit the AFL in 1996 following many years of service with The Brisbane Bears (58 games) for an overall number of 111 AFL games. He was back with Central District Football Club Central District Football Club for the 1998 SANFL season before resigning from playing football completely in 1999.

In 2007, McAdam took up a position with the Academy of Sport, Health and Education in Shepparton, Victoria. The academy uses participation in sport as an avenue for Indigenous people to undertake education and training within a trusted and culturally appropriate environment. His role with the academy is as a sports and personal development officer. He co-hosts the TV program The Marngrook Footy Show with Grant Hansen, currently screening on NITV on Thursday nights.

McAdam was picked at number 17 of 1989’s VFL Draft by St Kilda Football Club. After a couple of years of inconsistency McAdam was sold with Brisbane Bears. Brisbane Bears.

McAdam was raised within Alice Springs, where his father was the president of the South Alice Football Club. His twin brother Greg McAdam, had previously made it to the St Kilda Football Club via North Adelaide in the SANFL. McAdam relocated to Darwin to join the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL) as part of Southern Districts Football Club. Southern Districts Football Club when the age of 11 was older. The year 1979 was the time Gilbert McAdam was chosen as the schoolboys’ 12-year-old Northern Territory captain who captained the team to victory. The team went on to be the very first Northern Territory team to win the national championship. The top performers included McAdams as well as Scott Parker who was the youngest contestant to compete at the carnival.

The year 1986 was the first time McAdam was a player for Claremont during Claremont’s West Australian Football League (WAFL) before returning to Darwin. After a few years, McAdam went on to participate for the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) as a member of the Central District Football Club, winning in 1989 the Magarey Medal. McAdam was the only Indigenous player to receive the prize.

McAdam returned to Alice Springs and coached South Alice to a premiership. In 2006, he moved back to Darwin to coach the Darwin Football Club.
