Gibran Latif Hamdan (born on February 8 1981) is an ex- professional American football player in the National Football League and NFL Europa. He was selected to the Washington Redskins in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played in the NCAA football tournament at Indiana. Hamdan played as a part of the Amsterdam Admirals, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills. Hamdan is the first player from Pakistani descent to compete for the NFL.
In January of 2006, Hamdan was re-signed by the Seahawks and was assigned for NFL Europa in the third consecutive year. A fractured ankle sustained on the very first down of the opening game seven drive ended his season time. Hamdan had been the team’s best player and was awarded Offensive Most Valuable Player honors. He was in the starting line-up for seven games, and completed 102 of 162 attempts to sum of 1629 yards with 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He posted an unbeatable passer score during the final game in the match against Frankfurt Galaxy. The record holder for the average passer rating during the entire season for the season in NFL Europe at 113.4. However, this would not be enough to warrant him being a member of an impact on the Seahawks however, since they released him on August 28, 2006.
After Hamdan’s contract with the Seahawks expired in January, he was signed to a future contract with the Miami Dolphins on February 6, 2007. He was released at the conclusion of the preseason on September 1.
Hamdan was promoted backup quarterback for the last two games of the 2008 season pushing J.P. Losman back to third string, who had lost his starting role earlier that year to Trent Edwards.
Hamdan was not part from the league until the year 2005 when he was drafted to the Seattle Seahawks and once again assigned for NFL Europa. While initially he won the position of starting quarterback in the Amsterdam Admirals over Kurt Kittner A fractured collarbone ended Hamdan’s season. Through the 4 games he was in, with the Admirals, he completed 39 of on 75 attempts to get 556 yards five touchdowns with two interceptions. He was released following the conclusion of the training camp.

Hamdan was seventh round (232nd overall) selection from the Washington Redskins in the 2003 NFL Draft. While he performed well during Training camp, the Redskins initially chose to keep only two quarterbacks for into the season. Hamdan was on the team’s practice squad for throughout the beginning of his rookie season prior to being added to the active roster. Hamdan was on the field for the five remaining games. Hamdan was finally able to make his NFL debut on the 27th of December in the closing 2 minutes with Philadelphia Eagles. The Bills released Craig Nall and promoted Hamdan to the team’s 3rd QB on October 19. Due to injury of Trent Edwards, Hamdan was promoted to backup quarterback for the game between the Bills and the Bengals on November 4, 2007.
