Zigoni was chosen at the under-18 and under-19 levels and was capped at a number of times while scoring five goals. In addition to the 5 goals, three came from substitute appearances in the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship qualification. But Zigoni was left out of the team to play in the elite round and the final round because the team already included Mattia Destro Fabio Borini as well as Nicolao Dumitru as center forwards.

As for the first team, Zigoni made only one appearance during the season. He came off the bench in the final minutes of a league game against Lazio, which ended in 1–1 draw, on 28 March 2010.

On 24 May 2011, Milan re-acquired the second half of Zigoni from Genoa for the same fee, before being sent on loan to Avellino for the season. Next season he was sent on another loan spell to Serie B club Pro Vercelli. However, during the January transfer window he was called back and sent on a second loan spell to Avellino. Avellino promoted to Serie B at the end of season.

Growing up in Oderzo the city of Orzo, Zigoni began playing football for the local club Opitergina and then joined Treviso’s youth team and scoring more than 100 goals. Zigoni made his debut for the club in the Serie B game against Ancona on the 26th of January, 2009, at age 17. The game ended in an 1-0 loss for Treviso in which Zigoni scored the only goal of the game. Zigoni scored his second goal just four days later in the 3-2 victory over Brescia. The striker of the young age was able to make 18 , playing for Treviso in the 2008-09 campaign and was included eight occasions in the first squad.

Zigoni was awarded his first cap for international duty during February of 2009 a few days after making his first appearance in Serie B with Treviso, getting called up by Italy U-20 for a match against Austria. Italy lost 2-1and Zigoni himself scoring their only goal.

However, he failed to get any first-team appearances in his first months at the club.
