Giancarlo Antognoni (Italian pronunciation: [dZaNG’karlo Anton’no:ni(born 1 April 1954, in Marsciano) is an ex- Italian footballer who was midfielder. An adept and innovative offensive player who is considered to be one of the top Italian players of all time in this position, he played the bulk of his time at Fiorentina in which he was crowned the Coppa Italia in 1975 and the Anglo-Italian League Cup in 1975. On the international stage He was a winner of his first FIFA World Cup with the Italian national team. He also represented Italy in the 1978 FIFA World Cup, and at the 1980 UEFA European Championship, finishing in fourth place both occasions. On the 11th of October, 2010, he received his “Legends of football” Golden Foot award.
