Giacomo Modica (born May 31 1964 at Mazara del Vallo) is a Italian football manager as well as a former midfielder. He was previously a technical collaborator for Zdenek Zeman He is currently the director at Serie C club Vibonese.

On September 1, 2016 Modica was named as director of football of his hometown club Mazara the home of his hometown club, Mazara. It was his first experience with Mazara, a club from his hometown city. It was also his first time as the head coach of a club located in Eccellenza (second-highest standard of football for amateurs that is played in Italy).

He successively served as head coach of Serie D club Messina in the 2017–18 season.

He left Messina for Cavese (Serie D, soon to be readmitted to Serie C to fill vacancies) for the 2018–19 campaign, guiding the club to a mid-table placement in the league, then leaving the club by mutual consent by the end of the season.

On January 17, 2012, the new head coach was named on 17 January 2012 coach of the last-placed Lega Pro Seconda Divisione team Lecco in place of his fired previous coach Maurizio Pellegrino. Lecco avoided direct relegation, but was unable to bring the club in top form after losing a playoff match to Mantova. He then was dismissed by the close of the season to join Zdenek Zeman who is at Roma and be a technical collaborator during this season. Following the demotion of Zeman from the position of head coach in May, he resigned from Roma as well, and returned to Zeman’s mentor in July of 2014 as a technical assistant for Cagliari.

After a lengthy playing career playing for various Serie B and Serie C1 teams, including Palermo and Padova before he shifted into coaching, serving as Zdenek Zeman’s assistant over six years (even being his assistant in Fenerbahce) until he became a coach of his own. He began his career in 2004 when he was a coach as a coach for Serie D team A.S. Cosenza F.C. but with no money; he later worked for Serie C2 teams Melfi in 2006 and Celano in the following year, guiding Celano to a great season, and an appearance in the playoffs for promotion.

He signed a one-year extension of his deal together with Celano in July of 2010. The club resigned him after the 2010-11 season, with the club citing wage demands that were excessive as the main reason for the decision.

In April 2016 he was named as new head coach of Lega Pro club L’Aquila in place of Carlo Perrone, only to be dismissed himself after less than a month in charge.
