In the following years, he started serving as bureau chief for Al Jazeera in Iran. In the following year, he was appointed Bureau Chief of Al Jazeera in Beirut. In April 2011, however the journalist resigned from Al Jazeera due to its lack of professionalism and objectiveness in reporting on this year’s Arab Spring. It was reported that he didn’t approve of the station’s complete coverage of the crisis that was taking place in Libya, Yemen, and Syria and completely ignored the situation in Bahrain.
In 2012, Jiddo became the director of Beirut-based pan-Arab satellite television station, Al Mayadeen, launched on 11 June 2012.
He was selected to be one of the top 24 most powerful Arab in a list of 100 Arab individuals in 2007 by Arabian Business in 2007 and the 59th most influential Arab worldwide out of 500 Arab people also according to Arabian Business in 2011. Ghassan Bin Jddo (Arabic: Gsn bn jdw , romanizedas Ghassan Ben Jeddou), (born 8 August 1962) is a veteran Tunisian and Lebanese journalist, activist and director of the Beirut-based pan-Arab satellite TV channel Al Mayadeen. He is regarded by the press as a prominent Arab persona.
In the Al Jazeera years, Jiddo was a producer on a documentary about Hezbollah. He conducted an intimate interview with Secretary General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, during the conflict between Israel and Lebanon in 2006. In the same year the presenter also spoke with Julia Boutros, Walid Jumblat and the former Cuban leader Fidel Castro. He was widely regarded as one of the top-rated and well-known presenter for Al Jazeera in 2007. He gained a cult following in the Al Jazeera network in 2010 with his program Hiwar Maftuh (“Open dialogue” in Arabic) which was among the most watched shows. He gave insightful interviews to the decision-makers in his talk show and received a lot of praise for his coverage by Al Jazeerah of the conflict in Lebanon in 2006.
After his resignation from Al Jazeera, Jiddo claimed that the opposition in Syria and those who support them are responsible for the spilled Syrian blood, asserting that real opposition should never use weapons and violence against the citizens. Jiddo also appreciated Bashar Al Assad’s ongoing reforms which disappointed those who wanted to interfere in Syria’s internal affairs. In June 2012, he argued that “the regime of Bashar Al Assad is being subject to an international conspiracy”.
