Gerardo Zamora (born January 6 1964) is an Argentine politician from Santiago del Estero Province. The Governor for Santiago del Estero since 2005 and an active participant in the centre-left Radical Civic Union (UCR).

Between 2005 and 2007, Zamora’s vice governor was Emilio Rached; Rached was elected to the Argentine Senate in 2007 and then broke with the governor. Zamora was elected governor again in 2008, winning an 85% majority. Governor Zamora sought to amend in the province’s constitution which allowed him to run for the third consecutive term. the amendment was thwarted by an October 22nd 2013 Argentine Supreme Court ruling, however. His collaboration with Kirchnerists was at that point leading to his departure from the UCR who decided to endorse former Vice-Governor Emilio Rached in a Progressive, Civic and Social Front ticket for the election for the gubernatorial seat in 2013. Zamora nominated his wife Claudia Ledesma, as the Civic Front for Santiago candidate for governor , and she was defeated by Rached with an average of 65 to 15 while the former governor was also elected as a senator in his seat in the Argentine Senate.

Zamora was a major UCR patron for Peronist presidents Nestor Kirchner and Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (a “K” radical in the sense that UCR friends of Kirchnerism are called) and also opposed major UCR leaders who plan to support an opponent to the Kirchners during the 2007 presidential elections. Zamora became governor in the year 2005 under his Civic Front for Santiago ticket with the backing of certain Socialists and Peronists as well as the majority of Radicals (UCR) within the province.
