He joined the Reds as an undrafted amateur Free agent on the 7th of July 2007. In May 5th, 2013 in a game against Shawn Camp of the Chicago Cubs, Lutz got his first MLB hit when the ball was thrown into the center of the field. Lutz was also able to score in the inning and also registered an RBI and stole a base during the game. Lutz made his first home hit on May 12, 2013, with a three-run blast against Brewers pitcher Wily Peralta. He was sent back to Pensacola on June 25, 2013.
