Gerard Cavlan is one of the most popular and richest Gaelic Football Player who was born on April 2, 1976 in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. He made his debut for the senior team in 1993, against Wexford at 17 years old.

In 2006, just after Tyrone were eliminated from the All-Ireland championship earlier, Cavlan was one of many Tyrone players who chose the possibility of playing in the American GAA team.

In the 2007 Ulster Championship first round, Cavlan came on as a substitute, and scored an injury time free kick to win the game for Tyrone, against their neighbours, Fermanagh.

Cavlan was involved in an off-field disputes in April of 2006 after Cavlan was involved in a controversy over off-field activities when the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA) confiscated a dangerous dog from Cavlan’s Dungannon home, which was suspected of having been used to engage in dogfighting. Cavlan’s animal (Cannon Ball) was found in good health, but was covered with a large amount of scarring. Cavlan claimed that he did not have the dog or support the practice of dog fighting.

In the programme Cavlan was filmed stating he had a dozen or fifteen pit bulls, and stated of one dog “Sure he had him in the chest, and he shook him and he shook him for 25 minutes… if he hadn’t got you killed in half an hour… he was in trouble, you know. A real hard mouthed dog.” Cavlan was also filmed discussing plans to retrieve Cannon Ball from the British Army’s Palace Barracks, where the dog was being held on behalf of the USPCA.
