Totibadze’s father Georgy Konstantinovich Totibadze was a painter, and was also the Rector of the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts that continues to bear the name of his great-grandfather, Apollon Kutateladze.
After moving to Moscow, Georgy Totibadze shared the workshop of his grandfather Apollon Kutateladze along with the family of his mother’s from 1983 onwards. His neighbors included Alexander Tyshler, symbolist illustrator and painter, as well as Dmitry Ivanovich Khamin, who was the first artist to whom Gogi took as his drawing teacher.
Georgy Totibadze created a series of paintings in Hong Kong, later bought by members of the Japanese diaspora in 1996.
From 1997 to 1998, he moves to San Francisco, where he mostly created a series of paintings of landscapes.
The year 1982 is when Totibadze is a part of the Moscow 1905 State Academy of Arts [ruIn 1982, Totibadze joins the “scenography” department. He is admitted to at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts along with his artist Georgy Aleksi-Meskhishvili. Then comes Georgy’s father Georgy Kongstantinovich Tostibadze. Georgy Georgevich stayed in his father’s workshop from 1986 until 1991.
