Cassar participated for Team GB at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom. She was unable to represent her homeland of Gibraltar since Gibraltar’s Gibraltar Olympic Committee is not recognized in the International Olympic Committee; however with similar rules to Anguillan Long Jumper Shara Proctor, and Turks and Caicos Islandser Delano Williams Cassar qualified to compete for in the United Kingdom as Gibraltar is an official British Overseas Territory and so she is a holder of the British passport. It is her first Gibraltar athlete to be selected by Gibraltar to participate in the Olympic Games.
Cassar started ballet classes in the early age of 3. Cassar was a member of Gibraltar in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India. She placed 16th overall in the competition. In 2012, she traveled to Bath to work full-time for Bath’s Olympic team. There, she took A-levels in biology, psychology and physical education at King Edward’s School. She was planning to stay at Bath for her final year of A-levels after the events.
