George Bjorkman (born August 26 1956) is an ex-catcher from Major League Baseball who played for the Houston Astros in its 1983 season. Prior to his time with the Astros, Bjorkman played baseball at Chaffey Junior College and Oral Roberts University.
His sole baseball card was released as part of the year 1984 Topps set.
It was reported that the St. Louis organization traded him to the Houston Astros in 1983, receiving a player whose name was Geoff Meadows in return. The following year, he played for the Class AAA Columbus Astros and the Class AAA Tucson Toros before he was invited for the Major League team from the 10th of July and 2nd of October. He was a replacement for the his catcher of the day Alan Ashby during an injury. He scored .227 in his 29 games. The Astros exchanged Bjorkman with the Montreal Expos just before the 1984 season. Bjorkman continued to play AAA baseball from 1985.

The St. Louis Cardinals selected Bjorkman in the fourth round of the 1978 MLB Draft. As a player for the team’s rookie and class A affiliates the player hit an average of .259 batsman’s average and 10 home runs over the course of 58 games. He was a part of the St. Louis minor league system until he was taken to the San Francisco Giants in the 1980 Rule 5 Draft. The Giants transferred him to the Cardinals within the next April. As a member of the AA Springfield Redbirds, Bjorkman had the best season of his professional career in 1981. He scored 28 home runs over the 107 games of that season however, his home run total was reduced to half in the following year after the Redbirds relocated to Louisville.
Bjorkman was born in Ontario, California. He played baseball in college at Chaffey Junior college and Oral Roberts University. Bjorkman played catcher of in 1978’s Oral Roberts squad that won the first College World Series appearance in the history of the school. Bjorkman hit the 16th and 17th homers of the season in the same day the team was able to secure a place at the NCAA Midwest Regional playoff. The team made it through into the Midwest Regional to the College World Series. Oral Roberts was eliminated after three games. However, Bjorkman made 5-for-11, scoring four runs in the series.
