His formula for Ohm’s law wouldn’t have been possible in the absence of Alessandro Vota’s development of electrochemical cells.
He was born in Erlangen, Brandenburg-Bayreuth, to Maria Elizabeth Beck and Johann Wolfgang Ohm. One of his brothers, Martin Ohm, became famous as a mathematician.
