Georg Ohm is one of the most popular and richest Physicist who was born on March 16, 1789 in Erlangen, Bavaria, Germany. While most famous for establishing an electrical law called Ohm’s Law (wherein the amount of current that flows through a conductor is equal to the voltage divided by resistance) The scientist of the 19th century also formulated Ohm’s Phase Law and Ohm’s Acoustic Law.
His formula for Ohm’s law wouldn’t have been possible in the absence of Alessandro Vota’s development of electrochemical cells.
He was born in Erlangen, Brandenburg-Bayreuth, to Maria Elizabeth Beck and Johann Wolfgang Ohm. One of his brothers, Martin Ohm, became famous as a mathematician.

What did Georg Ohm discover?
Georg Ohm, in full Georg Simon Ohm, (born March 16, 1789, Erlangen, Bavaria [Germany]—died July 6, 1854, Munich), German physicist who discovered the law , named after him, which states that the current flow through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference (voltage) and inversely proportional to …
What law did George Ohm discover?
Using equipment of his own creation, Ohm found that there is a direct proportionality between the potential difference (voltage) applied across a conductor and the resultant electric current. This relationship is known as Ohm’s law , and the ohm, the standard unit of electrical resistance, is named after him.
Who found Ohm's law?
Abstract: The “it” in the title refers to what is now known as Ohm’s law. Georg Simon Ohm (1789-1854) lived at a time when there were no calibrated indicators for electric current. There was no volt or amp; these were established much later by the 1881 International Electrical Congress.
How did Georg Ohm change the world?
Georg Ohm is one of the most important experimental scientists of all time. His groundbreaking work in electricity gave the world one of the most simple, yet powerful, formulae of all time.
Why is Ohm's law important?
Ohm’s law is vitally important to describing electric circuits because it relates the voltage to the current, with the resistance value moderating the relationship between the two.
