Geordan Edward Andrew Murphy (born 19 April 1978) is an Irish rugby union coach as well as a former player. He played in the fullback position or wing for both his Irish international team and for the English team Leicester Tigers.

He assumed the Tiger’s Captaincy during the 2008/9 campaign, in the time that the club captain Martin Corry was not in the team. He also helped them reach two finals in the season – Heineken Cup and English Premiership the latter of which they were victorious. In the following season He was appointed the official captain of the club, but was absent for a large portion of the season because of injuries. He returned in February to take the team to a consecutive Guinness Premiership title, when the Tigers defeated Saracens 34-27 at the end of their game.

He was a member of the victorious Ireland team that won the 2009 Six Nations Championship and Grand Slam. In May 2009, Murphy was named in the Barbarians squad to play England and Australia along with Ireland team mate Gordon D’Arcy.

In 1997, just prior to his joining Leicester Tigers, Murphy gained his first U18 caps for Ireland. He slowly made an entrance into Tigers first team as he earned captivity to Ireland U21. The opportunities at fullback were restricted due to the absence that of Tim Stimpson, but he was able to be a part of the right side. Murphy played in both of two consecutive Heineken Cup final wins in 2001 and 2002.
