Geoffrey Steven Gaberino (born July 18th 1962) is an American former competitive athlete, Olympic gold medalist, and also a former world record- holder. Gaberino was part of two college national championship teams, and was a four-time college national champion in relays.
Gaberino was a student at Gaberino attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he was a member of coach Randy Reese’s Florida Gators swimming and diving team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition from 1981 until 1984. Gaberino was awarded four NCAA championships as well as five SEC championships as a part of the Gators winners in relays in the 4×100 yard event and the 4×200-yard race. Gaberino was a 15-time All-American athlete in the University of Florida, Gaberino was team captain during 1983 as well as 1984 as the Gators men’s swimming team won two consecutive NCAA National Team championships. Gaberino earned his degree from Florida with a Bachelor’s in 1984, and his master’s degree in business administration in the year 1988.
Gaberino has been inducted into the Tennessee Swimming Hall of Fame, Chattanooga Sport Hall of Fame, Baylor School Sport Hall of Fame, and the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame as a “Gator Great” in 1996.
