This soon became his signature. He also played a significant role throughout the 1987-88 as well as 1989-90 seasons. He was second in the official player of the award in both seasons in the hands of Bob Atkins and Warren Joyce in both cases. All in all, Swann played 250 first team matches for Preston and scored 47 goals. That’s impressive for an overall team that was at the bottom on the list of top league teams.

Swann was born to York, Yorkshire, Swann began his career as a player at Hull City. After eight years at Boothferry Park, Swann was a regular player in Hull City’s Hull team. He played in 221 times for the club. He scored 10 goals. He also assisted in the club’s promotion in both the seasons 1982-83 and 1985-86.
