Gary Shelton is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on March 21, 1958 in Nottingham, England, United Kingdom. Gary Shelton (born 21 March 1958) is an English former footballer who played in the midfield position.

Shelton was involved in greater than 40 league matches in his first three seasons with Ashton Gate but appeared just three times between 1993 and 1994 during his time on loan at Rochdale. In July 1994, Shelton was signed by Division Two club Chester City, where he was due to stay until the end of his contract. He was appointed as assistant manager of Kevin Ratcliffe in 1995 but continued to be a part of the team as he entered the end of his 30s. The last time he played in the league at the club came just one month before his 40th birthday, on the 14th of February 1998, when he played in a goalless draw against Hartlepool United. He was still in the club’s roster as a player, but did not play in the side playing for the remainder of the season. Shelton was let go by Chester in June of 2000, shortly after the club was relegated in The Football League and he was appointed a coach at West Bromwich Albion that he was in for a number of years.

Shelton was moved again in the month of August, 1989, when He was signed by Third Division side Bristol City in an exchange agreement with the future England director Steve McClaren. The first season ended with the promotion process and Shelton was to have an unspecified period in the role of joint caretaker for Bristol City with Mark Aizlewood and Russell Osman in 1992.

Shelton was a player who rose through the ranks of Walsall to become a first team player and was noticed by neighbors Aston Villa. He was offered a PS80,000 move from Villa Park in January 1978 but struggled to get himself a place as a player at Villa Park. He was not a part of the championship win of 1980-81 and had only one league appearance before the switch with Sheffield Wednesday in March 1982.
