Garin Lee Veris (born on 27 February 1963 Chillicothe, Ohio) is an ex- American football defensive player playing in the National Football League, mainly for the New England Patriots.

He was the athletic director at Massachusetts Maritime Academy from November 2015 until March 2018.

Since March 5 2013, Veris has been working as director of external marketing and business development at UMass Boston Athletics.

Veris has graduated from Chillicothe High School, where the football team was among the best (playing both offense and defensive) along with basketball during 1981. Veris also played track and field winning his OHSAA Class AAA discus throw and shot put titles in 1980. He repeated each event as the champion in 1981. After graduating from high college, Veris was accepted to Stanford University where he had an impressive performance that culminated in his admission into the Stanford University Athletics Hall of Fame. Veris was a member of the Stanford football team in an 1982 contest against Cal when Cal was victorious by a last play referred to in the game as The Play. Veris was selected by the team in the first round of the 1985 NFL selection with the New England Patriots. In his first season, he scored 14 sacks, including four during the playoffs. He also played with Super Bowl XX, where the team lost to the Chicago Bears. He ended his playing career as a member of the San Francisco 49ers and later was selected to the Patriots All-All-Around team in the 1980s.

Veris was an athletic director as well as coordinator for at-risk students at his old school Chillicothe High School located in Chillicothe, Ohio in 2011-2012. Prior to that, he was director of athletics and AD of Haverhill High School located in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 2009-2010.
