Gabriel Sakellaridis (Greek: Gabriel Sakellarides born August 20, in 1980) is a Greek economist and politician from Syriza. From January to July 2015, he was the deputy Secretary to Prime Minister as well as the Government Spokesperson in the cabinet under Alexis Tsipras. In September of 2017, he has been the Greece Country Director of Amnesty International.
In his third attempt, Sakellaridis, placed on second spot on the Athens A district, was awarded an election seat in the legislative elections of January 2015. He previously ran for office in the two elections in May and June from unpromising positions within the Athens B constituency.
Following the government’s takeover by Syriza and Syriza, he was made as a Vice Minister for the prime minister as well as a the Government Spokesperson. In a reshuffle in the government on July 17, 2015, he swapped his job to Olga Gerovasili who became government speaker, leaving him with the position of a spokesperson for the parliamentary. In the following snap election of September 2015, Sakellaridis however wasn’t reappointed to Tsipras his second cabinet.
