George Richard Bevan (born May 5 1959) is an American lawyer and judge and is associate justice at the Idaho Supreme Court. Bevan was previously an Idaho district court judge from 2003 until 2017.
Bevan was thought of as a possible candidate by Senators from Idaho Mike Crapo and Jim Risch to be a candidate for a nomination to an federal judge, but David Nye was selected in the year 2016.
In April 2017, Idaho Supreme Court justice Dan Eismann announced that he would retire on August 31. The Idaho Judicial Council provided Governor Butch Otter with four replacement candidates to choose from: Bevan, state judges John Stegner and Greg Moeller, and attorney Rebecca Rainey. Otter announced on August 29 that he had selected Bevan for the vacancy; Stegner was appointed to the court the following May.
In 2003 the Governor Dirk Kempthorne appointed Bevan as a state judge for the Idaho District Court for the 5th judicial district. The district encompasses the south central part of Idaho. Bevan was elected in 2010 and 2006 and in 2014.

The family was raised and born from Twin Falls, Idaho, Bevan graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1977. He then went on to Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance and management of business in 1984. He also earned the J.D. in 1987. BYU J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1987.
Bevan was in office from 1993 to 1997 as Twin Falls County prosecuting attorney and prosecuting attorney in the county. In that post, the county was re-elected in 1997 as a Republican. Bevan was a partner at the legal firm Hillifield & Bevan from 1997 until 2003.
