Prior to committing his writing career full-time, Taylor was a motorcyclist, police officer and former roadie for a rock group changed into an Anglican vicar for the community of Cloughton, North Yorkshire. Taylor has three children , and is currently living at Whitby, North Yorkshire.
In 2008, Taylor made a deal with the film production firm Entertainment Motion Pictures (E-Motion) to produce film that was that was based on the show. In March 2012, it was revealed that this film was going to be starring Michael Sheen, Lena Headey, Sam Neill, Ioan Gruffudd as well as Aneurin Barnard, as Mariah Mundi. It was renamed The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box and the film premiered on the United States in January 2014 to mostly negative reviews.
In October 2006 Taylor published The Tizzle Sisters & Erik through Markosia. A blend of graphic novel and prose which he described as an ‘illustronovella”. Taylor was joined in the novel by his collaborators Tony Lee, Dan Boultwood and Harry Potter artist Cliff Wright.

Taylor was born in Yorkshire and then relocated into London in the 70s, where he was employed in the industry of music with various bands like The Stranglers, Sex Pistols, Elvis Costello and Adam and the Ants. He was a part of the occult and led an existence that was according to his own words “into all sorts of weird and wonderful things and wasn’t leading a godly life”. He later embraced Christianity and later was ordained a vicar in the Church of England.
A second of his novels, Wormwood, was nominated for the Quill Award. The third novel of his, Tersias was published in the UK in 2005. On August 6, 2006 Faber released a sequel to Shadowmancer called The Curse of Salamander Street.
Taylor announced his retirement from writing in October 2009 in order to care for his daughter, who suffers from Crohn’s disease, although he went on to publish three more books in the years that followed.
