In July of 2016 an international competition was launched to determine the metamorphosis in the Tour Montparnasse, with 700 architectural firms from around the world participating. His firm joined with another two Parisian firms (Chartier Dalix Architectes as well as Hardel et Le Bihan Architectes) to create the Nouvelle AOM group and submitted a proposal. The design workshop was held in the 44th level on the Tower,. In September of 2017 they won the Nouvelle AOM group won and unveiled their project for rehabilitation which focuses on changing the appearance of the Tower and focusing on energy and comfort issues. The work on the construction is scheduled to run from 2019 until 2023, which means that the Tower is fully functional for 2024’s Olympics to be held in Paris.
Azzi has always thought of his work to be “global architecture”, as his work has been multidisciplinary in background. The year 2014 was the time he launched Franklin Azzi Design, with Noemie Goddard. He has collaborated with artists like Tatiana Trouve, designers like Robert Carr, but also fashion designers like Bali Barret, Christophe Lemaire and Isabel Marant.
