Frank Mill is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on July 23, 1958 in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Frank Mill (born 23 July 1958) is a German professional footballer, who played in the 1990 FIFA World Cup winning squad from West Germany. Additionally, he played in the 1984 and the 1988 Summer Olympics in which he was awarded the bronze medal along with his German team.
Mill appeared a bit unwell following Koppel’s appointment his role. He had also been awarded bronze by Germany during the 1988 Summer Olympics in the summer of 1988, and his previously very impressive score quota slowed. But he was still the most important member of his team and was sort of later, included in the Dortmund team that took home the DFB-Pokal trophy in 1989. They beat bookies’ favorites Werder Bremen in the final. At the time, Mill was an old-fashioned marksman, yet nevertheless, he was recognized as a player by Franz Beckenbauer to still play in the German national team, and thus he got an invitation to the West German squad for the 1990 World Cup. A sharp-eyed shrewd observer of every error that opponents were willing to make in the penalty area His reputation to be one of Germany’s top strikers of the era helped Frankie to be a part of the German team there. With a proven Rudi Voller, and the young Jurgen Klinsmann, Karlheinz Riedle all ahead of him in Beckenbauer’s thoughts on strikers, Mill stayed the unused third-choice striker in the prosperous Italian months in German football.
In the summer of 1984, he took part at the 1984 Summer Olympics and was Borussia Monchengladbach’s most effective striker when the fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund persuaded him to move to them at the close of 1985/86 Bundesliga season. Because Monchengladbach received a decent payment (1.3 million DM) for his service, a transfer was agreed upon. The move was slightly in doubt for a few weeks while troubled Dortmund needed to pass through three play-offs for relegation that summer to secure that they would have a Bundesliga future. Particularly, Mill was instrumental in guiding Dortmund to have a better 1986-87 season. The striker’s 17 goals in his thirty-one games in the Bundesliga in that season contributed to Dortmund climb to a fourth- place finish, and an appearance at the UEFA Cup the following season. Mill’s goal-scoring ability earned him a cult following at the Westfalenstadion immediately and eventually was rewarded with the position of captain of the team. Outside of his club , he was included in the team of the host country at Euro 1988. He became increasingly popular and regarded as an example to follow however, a dispute over his captaincy as well as his role in the Dortmund team between the club’s chairman Dr. Gerd Niebaum, and the manager of the team, Reinhard Saftig, resulted in the change of manager of the club. Saftig’s successor Horst Koppel, who left no doubt about his having the same perspective as the chairman on Mill’s role in the club’s first team.

A shrewd striker in his prime being the child of a junk dealer began his professional career when he was six with local club Eintracht Essen before he joined the ranks of young players at Essen’s largest club, Rot-Weiss Essen in 1972. After completing his job training, he became florist, as his mom owned a floral shop. Mill began his professional contract with the club in the year 1976. Essen was an Bundesliga club during his first season, one that saw three goals Mill scored in 19 games couldn’t prevent them from falling to two. Bundesliga North. In the Bundesliga North division, he progressed into a reliable striker, scoring 71 goals with Rot-Weiss (at times along with Horst Hrubesch) up to the close of the season in 1981, forty of them just during his 38 games of 1979-80. He was credited as the leading scorer in 2. Bundesliga Nord and easily made him a sought-after starlet. The switch to Borussia Monchengladbach with manager Jupp Heynckes led to his return to the top of the line Bundesliga during the year 1981.
At Monchengladbach He continued to score with 14 points in his debut season under contract. After just eight months of his time at Bokelberg the player was called up to Jupp Derwall for the team of Germany at the beginning of his professional career. On the 21st March of 1982, he took part in a friendly match against Brazil at Rio de Janeiro. An injury to his back forced him to withdraw from his place in the West German squad for the 1982 FIFA World Cup tournament. The injury affected his scoring pace slightly only the next season. In 1983-84, he was in the top scoring position for Monchengladbach with 19 goals, putting the ball over goalkeepers who were opposite in the Bundesliga. The club missed out on scoring the Bundesliga trophy with his team only on the day of the final and only due to goal differential the striker had to endure another major setback in the form of Monchengladbach was also eliminated from the DFB-Pokal final that summer with penalties, in the final against Bayern Munich (with his Bayern Munich-bound teammate Lothar Matthaus not scoring from the spot during shooting-out). Mill scored the sole Monchengladbach goal in normal time during the game.
On club level his fading punch in front of the goal saw him going through a proper transformation from the scorer to the assist winner, but this couldn’t stop him from getting more and more on the fringes of the Borussia Dortmund first-team. In 1991, Köppel departed as manager and his successor at the helm of Dortmund’s coaching, then fameless Ottmar Hitzfeld, started to set his stamp on the development of the club. With Stephane Chapuisat and Flemming Povlsen Hitzfeld’s regular picks in the Dortmund frontline, Mill was more and more handed a sub-role and, at the end of Hitzfeld’s debut season in charge of the club, missing out on the Bundesliga title again. For the second time in his career and, again, just on goal difference and due to final day action. Still the fan favourite at Westfalenstadion, Mill saw out his deal with the club in 1994 to join promoted Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 2nd Bundesliga. There he enjoyed two more seasons in the game, scoring five times in his first season at Rheinstadion, efforts that helped Fortuna returning to the Bundesliga. His final twelve months as a professional, the 1995–96 season, saw him having a bright start with two goals in the first three matches. He couldn’t add any more in the final 26 appearances for Düsseldorf and though his final Bundesliga total was 123 goals in 387 appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and Fortuna Düsseldorf.
