In college, he was not drafted. Alesci made his professional debut on March 7, 2011, when he joined USL Professional Division club Rochester Rhinos. The first time he played professionally was on the 20th of May 2011 as a substitute for the second half in an 0-0 draw against Orlando City, and scored his first goal in professional football on May 30 , in an 1-0 loss to F.C. New York.

While in college, Alesci was also a regular player throughout his time in the USL Premier Development League, two seasons playing for Bakersfield Brigade, two seasons with the Brooklyn Knights and one year with the Newark Ironbound Express. He was selected to the all-league Premier Development League team in 2010 when he was working for Newark.
