The boy was born at Basauri, Biscay, and an athlete from Athletic Bilbao’s academy for youth at Lezama, Yeste made his debut for the team on 7 February 1999, playing all 90 minutes of an away defeat of 0-2 in a match against Racing de Santander. He was to play in 13 games over the next seasons together, while being primarily playing with the reserve team.
