Francie Molloy is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on December 16, 1950 in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Francie Molloy (Irish: Proinsias O Maolmhuaidh born on 16 December 1950) is an Irish Sinn Fein politician who has been an abstentionist Member of the Parliament (MP) of Mid Ulster since 2013. He was a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for Mid Ulster from 1998 to 2013.

Molloy is a member of his position on the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996 as a representative of Mid Ulster and then for the same district for the Northern Ireland Assembly in 1998 in 2003, 1998 and 2007. Then, in 2005 Molloy has been suspended temporarily from Sinn Fein after publicly disagreeing with Sinn Fein’s policies on cutting down many district councils which included that of the Dungannon Council of which he was a part of.

Molloy was unsuccessfully a candidate in the election for Sinn Fein in the European elections of 1994.

In the lead-up of the general election the attention of the media was focused on the past allegations against Molloy and the connection to the independent candidate of the DUP/UUP supported Nigel Lutton – in 2007, DUP MP David Simpson made a claim during an in-depth debate in the Westminster Parliament that Molloy had been an IRA member. IRA and was believed by the police to be having been involved in the murder of Lutton’s father Frederick Lutton, on 1 May 1979. The IRA claimed responsibility for the incident due to the fact that it was a RUC Reservist. The investigation was not successful however Simpson said that it was because Molloy was then forced into becoming an informant for the police, and giving information that led to the break-up of the RUC’s East Tyrone brigade. Molloy denied the claims when he was in charge, then then challenged anyone to repeat the same speech outside Parliament to be able to take legal actions (the speech was protected by parliamentary privilege, and therefore ineffective).

He first ran in the seat of Sinn Fein in Fermanagh and South Tyrone in the 1982 Assembly Elections, finishing sixth in the five-seat district. He was elected to the Dungannon Council in the year 1985, representing the Torrent electoral zone, which is which is centered around Coalisland. He left his council post in the year 1989, but was elected again in 1993 and has served as a councillor since.

In December 2012, he was selected as the Sinn Féin candidate for the UK parliamentary constituency of Mid Ulster, which had been held by his party colleague Martin McGuinness since the 1997 general election. The by election took place on 7 March 2013.
