On the 7th of June 2012, Vitucci became the head coach of Pallacanestro Varese signing a contract for two years. Varese was the winner of the regular season of 2012-13 with 46 points (23 wins and 7 losses) however, during the playoffs, they fell to Montepaschi Siena (4-3 in the series) in the semifinals.
In December 14, 2017, Vitucci became head coach of New Basket Brindisi.
In the year 2010 Scandone Avellino offered him the team as the head coach for the following two seasons of Serie A in place of Cesare Pancotto.
