Francena McCorory is one of the most popular and richest Sprinter who was born on October 20, 1988 in Hampton, New Hampshire, United States. Francena Lynette Mccorory (born on the 20th of October 1988) is an American track and field athlete. She is known most for her performance in the 400-meter race. She she is also the NCAA and American indoor record holder for this event. She was part in the 2012 United States Olympic team and took home the gold medal in the 4 400 m relay during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The athlete was named the IAAF 400-meter Indoor World Champion in 2014.

In the 2012 Summer Olympics, McCorory competed in the 400m race and the 4 x 400m relay. In the final of the 400m, McCorory finished 7th with the speed of 50.33. In the relay McCorory completed the third leg of women’s 4x 400m (in the with a time of 49.39) together with DeeDee Trotter Allyson Felix and Sanya Richards-Ross. Her winning time of 3:16.87 The 3rd most efficient time ever recorded in Olympic history, behind only that of Soviet Union and United States in the 1988 Summer Olympics as well as the 5th fastest overall. At the the 2012 Penn Relays, Francena McCorory won the 4×400 race with Allyson Felix Natasha Hastings, and Sanya Richards Ross.

At the 2014 World Indoor Championships, she was a double gold medal winner taking the 400 metres and the 4×400 relay titles. Later in the season at the 2014 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships another improvement of her personal record to 49.48, defeating Sanya Richards to take the win. Later that year McCorory added to her titles by being named HBCU Top 30 Under 30, in June

2014. McCorory finished 4th at 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 50.88.

After graduating from Hampton She increased her time to 50.49 to finish second place at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships that qualified her to compete in the World Championships in Athletics. After a month she lowered her personal best to 50.29 at the Herculis race in Monaco. She was able to lower it another time, up to 50.24 when she reached the semi-finals in 2011’s World Championships in Athletics. In the finals, she was not so fast, but she finished with a fourth-place finish for her first time in the arena. The next day, she helped lead her United States team to a gold medal in the 4x 400 meters relay. In 2016, the 3rd place Anastasia’s 2009 Olympic samples were tested and discovered to contain the toxins stanozol and turinabol. In the second instance, she was banned for life, which disqualified her from competing against McCorory. As of 2017, McCorory received a bronze medal.

McCorory was a student at Bethel High School in her hometown of Hampton, Virginia where she demonstrated her skills in the 400 meter race. One of her best performances was her performance at the event in the year 2005. Virginia Group AAA Eastern Region event, in which McCorory took the baton of her team up to 80 meters ahead of the leading teams in the race, and sprinted to victory, beating six teams. Then she set her own National High School Indoor record with a time of 51.93 which was earlier held by future World Champion Sanya Richards, who was the only competitor in the distance.

Despite being sought-after by bigger schools, McCorory attended her hometown school, Hampton University. She was in 2009 the NCAA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships and later that year, she placed third at the NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She traveled in Fayetteville, Arkansas to defend her title. Instead of just repeating her position her title as champion, she actually won the race by more than a second, setting an NCAA record and breaking Diane Dixon’s age-old American record for the race in the time of 50.54. In the following year, she took home the NCAA Outdoor championship, in 50.69 that was less that the Indoor record. In the following weeks she increased her personal best to 50.52 and finished second in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

At the 2013 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships she improved her personal record to 50.01. In finishing second, she qualified for the 2013 World Championships where she improved her personal best under 50 to 49.86 in the semi-final round and got 2nd place in the 4×400 after failing to pass the Russian, but they were upgraded to gold because the Russians cheated. In the 2013 Penn Relays, Francena McCorory held off Great Britain’s Perri Shakes Drayton to get gold for the USA.
