Foto Strakosha is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on March 29, 1965 in Memaliaj, Gjirokastër, Albania. Fotaq “Foto” Strakosha (born 29 March 1965) is an Albanian retired goalkeeper , and currently goalkeeping coach at Lazio Youth.

Strakosha was the first player to be selected for the Albanian national team by coach Agron Sulaj to play in an Euro 1992 qualifier against Iceland in the month of May, 1990.

This game was played after the fall of Communism in Albania which meant that from there on, players would be allowed to play abroad for the first time in 45 years. A notable impact like this, struck directly to the national team since nine players – notably Sulejman Demollari and Edmond Abazi – would be playing in foreign leagues, the majority choosing neighbour Greece, the same way Strakosha did.

In his debut, Albania lost the game in Reykjavík 2–0 which added to their miserable run of 19 games without a single win. The game itself was not to be a special one for the rookie goalkeeper as he conceded 2 goals, which kept him aside for the following games.

Strakosha began his professional career with Minatori (now KF Memaliaj) in 1985, before the move into Albanian huges Dinamo Tirana. In his debut season at Dinamo the club, he took home the Albanian Cup and Albanian Supercup later. The following season was more successful, as he took home the 3 competitions Albanian Superliga, Albanian Cup and Albanian Supercup. After a second half- season at Dinamo then he went to Greece and began his career with PAS Giannina for the remainder of the 1990-91 season. He then moved to Piraeus where he played with both clubs Ethnikos Piraeus for two years, and Olympiacos for the remainder of four years. While at Olympiacos the team was consistently among the three of the top teams in the Greece top-flight , and won the title during his final season in 1996-97. He then signed with another top-flight club Panionios where he played for two seasons, eventually becoming a starter , and then being awarded the Greek Cup in his first season. He then left Panionios to stay for another 3 years and a half in the top flight joining Ionikos who he would play with for three years before shifting to Kallithea for the first two months in the season 2002-03. After that, he spent an entire year to Greece second highest level playing for Kalamata throughout the 2002-03 season as well as the in the first half of 2003-04 season with Ethnikos Asteras. Then he was back in the top flight joining Proodeftiki for the rest in the season 2003-04, before to moving again to Panionios during the following season to conclude his career.

Strakosha was the goalkeeper for Albania’s national team from 1990 until 2005. He made his debut on the 30th of May 1990, and ended his career on the 13th October of 2005.

His second international cap would be coincidentally in a friendly against these cross-border rivals which ended in a 2–0 win after striker Sokol Kushta scored twice.
