Flamur Kastrati (born 14 November 1991) is a Kosovar footballer who is a forward with Eliteserien team Kristiansund. Kastrati is of Albanian and Kosovar heritage and was born in Norway. He has played for Norway in youth international competitions from the age of 15 to 21 However, he has said that he’d like to represent Kosovo on an international stage.
Kastrati made his debut with the Norwegian under-21s in the game with Greece U-21 on November 17th, 2010 in the first game during the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship qualification, Kastrati assisted Joshua King’s goal as Norway U-21 defeated Iceland U-21 by 2-0. Iceland U-21. Kastrati made three appearances with the under-21s during the qualifying campaign, as they were selected for 2013’s UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship. Kastrati scored his first goal with the under-21s in a friendly game with Spain U-21 on March 21 2013. He scored a second goal against the Netherlands U-21 just four days afterward. Kastrati was member of the Norwegian team that was awarded Bronze at the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship in which he made an appearance as substitute.
Hailing from Oslo, Kastrati started his senior career in Skeid at the age of 16, before he moved to Dutch side FC Twente. After two seasons at the club’s reserve team, he spent time on loan with German side VfL Osnabrück, before he joined MSV Duisburg permanently in 2011. After a brief spell at Erzgebirge Aue in 2013, Kastrati joined Strømsgodset in August 2013.
In April 2013, Kastrati told the Albanian media that he would welcome a call from Albania to play for them. In February 2014, Kastrati announced that he would play for Kosovo.
Kastrati, who was formerly FC Twente and Norway international player Hallvar Thoresen, Twente’s head-scout in Scandinavia was amazed by Kastrati’s abilities in 2008 and invited the player to an interview at Twente in November of 2008. Kastrati was traded to Twente in January 2009 and signed a contract for two years for the team. He was a member of the reserves team, however, he was among four players who trained regularly for the team’s main squad. Following the time that Twente took the 2009-10 Eredivisie Kastrati played many games with the team’s first team in the preseason, and was also part of the team of an upcoming Champions League match against Werder Bremen in November 2011.

Kastrati who is from Kosovo and Albania is born in Oslo where he was raised in Groruddalen and was a player for Grei in his early years. He moved to Skeid in 2006 and was aged 15 when he was invited to an initial trial at English club Chelsea alongside other Albanian-Norwegian players Valon Berisha as well as Mergim Hereqi. Kastrati began his career with Skeid’s first team during the second. Divisjon at 16 years old with six scores during the 2008 season, when the team was promoted to Adeccoligaen.
Kastrati first played for Norway in 2007, when He played in three matches with the team’s under-16 players. He played in five matches and scored goals for the under-17 team in 2008 then the following year he scored a goal in five games for the under-18 team. He joined the under-19 team in 2010 , and had three goals scored in five games with the club.
Kastrati was loaned out to German 2. Bundesliga side VfL Osnabrück on loan for the second half of the 2011–12 season. He scored in his debut in the 1–4 loss against MSV Duisburg on 16 January 2011. In a match against Energie Cottbus on 13 March 2011, Kastrati fell to the ground unconscious after an apparently harmless clash with Markus Brzenska. The match was stopped while Kastrati received treatment on the pitch, before he was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. After the match was restarted, both teams stopped playing, simply passing the ball from side to side during the 12 minutes of stoppage time. The doctors feared that Kastrati’s neck was broken, and that his footballing career was over. He did however only injure a nerve, and was expected to return to the pitch within two weeks. He scored a goal in his first match after the injury, against Karlsruher SC on 1 April 2011.
