She was back in the 8s squad in 2007,, rowing to two third places at the World Cup in Linz and Luzern and also the first position at the World Cup in Amsterdam along with Jacobine Veenhoven Smulders, Hurnet Dekkers, Van Rumpt, Repelaer van Driel, Sarah Siegelaar, De Haan and Workel. In the World Championships in Munich the team did not make it to the A-finals and was forced to settle for the 7th place overall. The year 2008 the team attempted to make it to an appearance at the 2008 Summer Olympics as well., at the inaugural World Cup in Munich Veenhoven was replaced by Nienke Dekkers, while Hurnet Dekkers replaced Nienke Kingma. They finished in fourth place. Helen Tanger replaced Nienke Dekkers at the second World Cup which was held in Luzern and a fourth place was secured. This also meant that Olympic qualification was achieved.

In 2005, it was time to begin the brand new Dutch eights program. The existing team consisting of Dekker, Sanne Beukers, Nienke Hommes Hurnet Dekkers Annemarieke van Rumpt Laura Posthuma, Annemiek de Haan, Helen Tanger and cox Ester Workel was able to get the second place during the World Cup meeting in Munich right away. With Marlies Smulders in place of Hommes they landed the same position in Luzern. Mendes was back in the team instead of Smulders to compete in this year’s World Championships, while Beukers was substituted with Nienke Dekkers. The team fell one spot and took home an Olympic bronze. In 2006 Dekker was still in the eights, however during the World Championships in Eton she competed in the coxless fours along with Posthuma, Nienke Kingma and Roline Repelaer vanDriel to be fifth place.

Dekker began rowing in the year 1990. She began her professional career in double sculls competition at 1995 Junior World Championships in Poznan. Along with Christel Rijnten, she was awarded her bronze medal. The next year Dekker was crowned World Junior Champion in the four-person race team of Christel Rijnten, Karin Klinge and Maartje Breeman in Glasgow. In 1997, she was 5th in single scull competition in the Junior World Championships in Hazewinkel. She continued to row the single scull throughout 1998 and won bronze at the Nations Cup. In 1999, in the double sculls, she was with Annemieke Klaren. she failed to win.
