Felix Genn is one of the most popular and richest Theologian who was born on March 6, 1950 in Burgbrohl, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Genn was born on 6 March 1950 in the town of Burgbrohl, which is located in the Ahrweiler district of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Genn was raised on a farm near Wassenach and was a graduate of the Kurfurst-Salentin gymnasium in Andernach in the year 1969. From 1969 until 1974, he began theology studies within The University of Trier and the University of Regensburg. Then, on June 29, 1985, he was awarded the Ph.D. from theology at Trier’s University of Trier. He wrote his dissertation in the field of St. Augustine.

On April 16, 1999 Genn became an Auxiliary Bishop for Trier and was also appointed being named the Titular the Bishop of Uzalis by Pope John Paul II. He was ordained as to the position of bishop at the Cathedral of Trier on 30 May 1999. He was also appointed as the vicar of his Visitation District in Saarland. His bishop Hermann Josef Spital was his principal consecrator. bishops Franz-Josef Hermann Bode and Alfred Kleinermeilert were co- consecrators. On April 4, 2003 he was later transferred to the diocese by Pope John Paul II with his appointment as the third Bishop of Essen. He was installed as the third Bishop of Essen diocese on July 6, 2003.

As part of a major political shake-up of the Congregation for Bishops on 16 December 2013, Pope Francis appointed Genn as a member of the congregation, succeeding Cardinal Joachim Meisner.

From 1994 until 1997, Genn was a full-time lecturer of the Theological Faculty of Trier’s University of Trier. After that Genn was appointed the regensor for the St. Lambert House of Study in the Burg Lantershofen.

Felix Genn (born 6 March 1950) is a German bishop from the Catholic Church who is currently the Bishop of Munster. In the past, he was his Bishop for Essen and before that, was an Auxiliary Bishop from Trier. Since 2013, he’s been an active participant in the Congregation for Bishops.

Genn was ordained as a priest on the 11th of July in 1976 at Trier with Trier’s Bishop Bernhard Stein. When he was ordained Priest, Genn was made to be the curate of the Holy Cross Church in Bad Kreuznach and was in during two consecutive years. The year 1978 saw him became an assistant head (assistant director) in the Diocesan Seminary in Trier and remained there until 1994. Then, in 1985, he was appointed the spiritual director of the seminary.

Genn was appointed the seventy-sixth Bishop of Münster on 19 December 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI after being elected by the cathedral chapter, succeeding Reinhard Lettmann. He was enthroned in the diocese on 29 March 2009. On 21 August 2010, he was awarded honorary citizenship of Wassenach.
