Faouzi Benzarti is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on January 3, 1950 in Monastir, Monastir Governorate, Tunisia. Faouzi The late Benzarti, who was born the 3rd of January, 1950, in Monastir in central Tunisia born into a sports family. He received his elementary and secondary schooling in Monastir before transferring to the Higher Institute of Sports of Tunis and was graduated from it in the year 1975. He was an instructor of physical education in several Tunisian institutes from 1975 until 1977. After receiving an official football coach’s license, He decided to dedicate himself completely to coaching.
In March 1994 He was appointed coach of the Tunisia national team’s coach for the second game of the 1994 African Cup of Nations hosted by Tunisia following the demotion of Youssef Zouaoui for his failure in the first match against Mali. He also joined CS Sfaxien in June 1996 but left before the start of the season to participate in his first international match as head of Emirati club Al-Shaab CSC. It wasn’t a great performance as the team ended seventh in the 1998-1999 UAE Football League. Faouzi Benzarti returned to the Club Africain in 1999 and made it to the final of the 2001 African Cup Winners Cup. He had a brief stint as the coach for Stade Tunisien in 2001 with disappointing results.
On 11 July 2007, he became the new head coach of the Libyan team. He led the team in their last match of 2008 African Cup of Nations qualification and drew with DR Congo (1–1) in Kinshasa.
After returning to Esperance he won the Tunisian League twice in 2009 and 2010 becoming the most winning coach of Tunisian Leagues, he won also the Arab Champions League for the same year and reached the final of the 2010 CAF Champions League but was defeated by TP Mazembe. Following the failure of the national team, under the leadership of Humberto Coelho, to qualify for the finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, he was removed from office on 18 November 2009 and replaced by Benzarti, who kept his duties at Espérance until November 2010, when his assistant Maher Kanzari replaced him. He coached the Tunisian team in the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola.
He started his career in EO Sidi Bouzid before returning to US Monastir, which he was a coach from 1979 to 1980, which allowed him to go back in Ligue I. His first time working playing with Etoile du Sahel in the 1986-87 season, he took home the Tunisian league title, and later won the championship in the year
- Tunisian Super Cup. In 1990 he coached and supervised his team Club Africain in the same year to take home the title of league champion and make it to the semi-finals of the 1990 African Cup Winners Cup. Faouzi Benzarti (Arabic Faouzi Benzarti (Arabic: fwzy Lbn born on the 3rd of January 1950, in Monastir) is Tunisian former footballer and a current coach of the football team of Libya. He played his entire life as a player for his club in US Monastir without any achievements. His coaching career started when he was just 29 years old, which made one of the few Tunisian coach of that time. He is regarded as one among the top coaches of Tunisia and is the most successful coach in an official position in the Tunisian League with 9 Titles. He is known for his offensive style and a high-pressure approach because of his endurance in training as well as the rage he displays towards referees and his players. In his time as a manager and time, he managed of two teams for national football, The Tunisian as well as the Libyan national teams.
