El Bakhtaoui’s first game of his 2015-16 campaign was more impressive than his previous year in which the forward scored four consecutive braces during the opening four games of the season. He also scored two more in the match against Scottish Premiership side Dundee in the Scottish League Cup. After drawing the attention of other clubs, El Bakhtaoui was named Scottish League One Player of the Month for August, mostly due to his feat of scoring 12 goals in the span of eight matches. El Bakhtaoui was once more named his player of the month award in March, following his scores in the games against Stenhousemuir as well as Ayr United and also his first hat-trick of his career in the 3-1 win against Brechin City. He was raised at Saint-Tropez, El Bakhtaoui started his career at French team Racing Club de la Baie. On July 12, 2012 Scottish First Division club Dunfermline Athletic signed El Bakhtaoui after he impressed manager Jim Jefferies in trial matches against Berwick Rangers as well as Lochgelly. The first season he played for The Pars resulted in him mostly working on his development only two appearances were made during the final stages in the campaign.

El Bakhtaoui made a further appearance as a substitute versus Rangers at Dens Park, before making his first start six days later in a 1–1 draw with Hamilton Academical. El Bakhtaoui spent the season playing out wide or behind the striker and finished the season with 4 goals. One of which was a goal of the season contender in a 2–1 defeat versus Celtic receiving positive comments from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.
