His mother works as a housewife. his grandfather was Mohd Yousf Khan, was a prominent contractor in the region. Fairoz’s great- grandfather Gahlum Kouider was the Sarpanch in Pogal Paristan. Fairoz Khan is the eldest of four brothers and two sisters. The family is believed to be responsible for the establishment of high schools in the village.

Khan began a protest in protest against his Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) over the mass copies of exam papers, leading to an array of protests and an anti-signature petition against JKSSB along with the administration in Jammu and Kashmir. On the 25th of December, 2015 Khan claimed that there was widespread copying across all JKSSB centers on a form for postgraduates. The JKSSB has cancelled exams on December 25th for postgraduates and also accepted all NSUI requests.

Khan was named as the National Secretary for NSUI on the 16th of December, 2012, after a selection of 120 applicants. Rohit Choudhary was the one to make the choice with the final approval coming by Rahul Gandhi. Following his selection, Khan was greeted by many supporters at Jammu airport. In the time since his arrival, Khan has spoken at various rallies and seminars including a lecture on deforestation that took place on July 31, 2012. Khan is the manager of the online budget program at Agra University.
