In Brooklyn, New York, Fahamu Pecou has the BFA in painting and Digital Media at the Atlanta College of Art in 1997. He completed a Directed Studies with Spelman College under the guidance of Dr. Arturo Lindsay. He earned his MA from Emory’s Institute of Liberal Arts in 2017 and received his Ph.D. at the same school in the year 2018.

On September 8 the studio of Pecou was destroyed by a fire, while the artist was in a foreign country.

Pecou is a regular participant in group and solo art exhibits throughout the world. Pecou also gives public lectures and public speaking engagements in museums and colleges throughout the US. In addition to his personal works, Pecou has curated notable exhibitions, like RiTES, which is located at the Zuckerman Museum at Kennesaw State University. As of 2015, Pecou has been selected by Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs to be the curator of ELEVATE Atlanta which is the city’s annual public art festival.

Holmes as well as Ashby stations. The purpose of this project is to create a more welcoming environment for the stations and foster a sense community. The project was funded with an amount of $50,000 through the National Endowment for the Arts. To date, murals created by Pecou are being painted in the King Memorial Station, the Ashby Station, and the Oakland City Station.
