Feeney published two books-length articles together with Taschen in 2006, on the directors of films Roman Polanski and Michael Mann. Between 2006 and 2007 he was an expert in the field of creativity for ClickStar the movie download service created by Morgan Freeman, constituted on the Z Channel model. He passed away from having a stroke on February 5, 2020.

After graduation from the California Institute of the Arts in 1976, Feeney worked for several years as an artist and inker for Hanna-Barbera Studios. In 1980, he was a book and film critic for the publication LA Weekly.
Jerry Harvey, chief programmer for the pay-TV service Z Channel, noticed a tribute to Warren Oates that Feeney wrote following the actor’s sudden death in 1982. Harvey was the only person to talk to Oates. The result was Feeney being an in-house film critic and creative consultant for Z Channel between 1983 and 1989, while directing a variety of commercials for the company. The advertisements promoted a range of premier screenings of director’s cuts as well as “lost films” that were the brand name for Z Channel, most notably Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America and John Ford’s Up the River, Karel Reisz’s The Loves of Isadora, and Sam Peckinpah’s Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid.
