While at the University, Wadongo was an active participant in his Rotaract Club (part of Rotary International) which was where he took part in various community-based initiatives which included the donation of children’s homes with clothes and street cleaning campaigns. He worked as an intern in Kenyatta National Hospital in 2006 as well as in 2007 at Metsec Ltd in 2007, and at UUNET Kenya (now MTN Business Kenya) in 2008.

On 30 March 2011, Wadongo was named one of three recipients of the inaugural Mikhail Gorbachev Awards for “The Man Who Changed the World.” His fellow inaugural recipients of this award were Sir Tim Berners Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web and Ted Turner, media mogul and founder of CNN. The ceremony, held in London, also celebrated Gorbachev’s 80th birthday.

He later established Sustainable Development For All-Kenya (SDFA-Kenya) as a non-profit in the year 2006. SDFA-Kenya officially became registered within Kenya on June 7, 2007. Its primary mission is to protect the environment, educate and empowerment of the economy. Wadongo was the founder chairman. SDFA-Kenya has adopted the ‘Use solar Save Lives’ program as its primary focus program because it blends the three components of environment, education, as well as economic development. SDFA-Kenya has been working across all regions of Kenya. It is also currently working in Malawi in collaboration together with Jacaranda Foundation. So far SDFA-Kenya, under the direction under the direction of Wadongo. Wadongo is a native of the Western region of Kenya. Both his parents are teachers. He was a student at Manyonje in addition to Bisunu primary schools, which were rural primary schools in which students walked for more than 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) every day to get to the school. The school and his home were without electricity, but he fought the odds to attend Kakamega High School, where the school was able to get top marks in his graduation and was named as one of the top 100 students in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams in 2002. He then enrolled in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and was awarded a degree in July 2009, with the degree of BSc (honors) of Electronics and Computer Engineering.
