After a successful trial, the club signed him to a one-year contract on August 3rd, 2006. After an injury crisis, Portsmouth were eager to sign Bopp ahead of a Premier League match against Wigan Athletic on 31 October. However, the Premier League refused to register the player because of Portsmouth’s debts and a transfer embargo was placed on the club. Bopp continued, however, to play games for the reserve team.
He signed with German 3. Liga club Carl Zeiss Jena on 7 December 2010. Bopp played his debut for Carl Zeiss Jena in the match on 11 December against Dynamo Dresden. He made 16 appearances for the club before he was released in June 2011.

In the four seasons he was at the club, he scored eight goals, and despite several impressive reserve performances, the player struggled to make it into the main squad. His most impressive run of form in the club came during the 2002-03 season. This was ended abruptly by an unintentional challenge by Derby County’s Craig Burley from which he was seriously injured in his knee. Bopp did not return to the heights he enjoyed in 2002 and was let go at the conclusion in the season 2005/06. Bopp is most likely best-known for his period with Forest for his sensational final goal with Gillingham on the final morning of 2004-05 campaign that eventually saw the opposition relegated to the bottom of the table, along alongside Forest as well as Rotherham United.
