Ethan Dube is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on September 7, 1970 in Filabusi, Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe. Langalibalele EthanDube (born on 7th September, 1970) is an ex- Zimbabwean cricketer who played for Matabeleland during Zimbabwean national cricket. He was an right-arm fast bowler however, his career was ended due to back and knee injuries. After retiring, Dube moved into sports administration, and was director of the Matabeleland Cricket Association, as a selector for Zimbabwean national team, as well as an official member of the government’s Sports and Recreation Commission.
In early 2004, in the early phases of the Zimbabwean cricket crisis, thirteen well-known Zimbabwean players have signed an open letter protesting against perceived interference in the selection panel of the national team in which they advised that Dube and Pommie Mbangwa should replace two selectors currently on the panel. Mbangwa was appointed a selector within a few days of the letter was released as well as Dube was appointed a selection officer after the beginning of the season. He was on the national selection committee until January 2006, after which he resigned. As of December 5, Dube was also named chairperson of the Matabeleland Cricket Association, replacing the former world referee Ahmed Esat. Dube resigned his post in May of 2006, due to an inability to work within the existing structure which, he stated, was “collapsed”. He was previously part of the administrators who had sent an email directed to International Cricket Council (ICC) that criticized the management of Peter Chingoka, the chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket.
In the early part of 1994 Dube made his debut for Matabeleland during the 1993-94 season of the Logan Cup, which was the first edition that was awarded first-class status. Dube made a few more appearances in the subsequent couple of seasons. However, he he had no results, and never took more than two wickets during an innings. His final appearance as a first-class player was with Mashonaland Country Districts in the final of the 1995-96 Logan Cup. At that point Dube had stopped bowling completely and was now acting as an opener batsman. Dube and his opener, Graeme Ferreira, made eight runs in the game, but Matabeleland did win, taking home their very first Logan Cup title.

Dube was born in Filabusi located in the present-day Matabeleland South Province. Dube was raised in Bulawayo and went to Falcon College, taking up cricket at 10 at a time when there were a few black players. When he started playing cricket for club teams at the age of 16, He was the only black player on his team. Dube had earlier played in New Zealand with a Zimbabwe Schools team, Dube was one of four Zimbabweans chosen to be part of the ICC Associates XI at the 1988 Youth World Cup in Australia (the other three were Trevor Penney, Glen Bruk-Jackson as well as Eboo Essop Adam). Dube was a part of five of seven matches played by his team and picked up four wickets with an average of 2/43 in the match with the West Indies. In his youth, Dube was also a skilled field hockey player. He was once not being selected for the trip to cricket in England to take part in a tour hockey tournament of Germany as well as the Netherlands.
In the year 1990, Dube was selected in the Zimbabwean national team to participate in the 1990 ICC Trophy in the Netherlands. Dube made his first- class as well as List A debuts on a warm-up tour in England (against Yorkshire and Sussex and Sussex, respectively) However, he was struck by an injury to his knee and was not able to compete at the ICC Trophy. The injury permanently damaged the knee, causing Dube to change his bowling technique.
