Schapira was co-author on The Act of Alois Brunner and co-producer for two documentaries that have won awards: Drei Kugeln and an utterly Kind (“Three bullets and a dead child”) (2002), concerning the death of Muhammad al-Durrah in Gaza in 2000 as well as Der Tag as Theo van Gogh ermordet wurde (“The day that Theo van Gogh was murdered”) (2007), concerning the 2004 murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh. The film was a co-production with her, Kamil Taylan, a Prix Europa award. She created another documentary on the death of Al-Durrah Das Kind, Der Tod, and Die Wahrheit (“The Child, the death as well as the Truth”).
Schapira has created two documentaries that question the circumstances that led to deaths of Muhammad al-Durrah in 2000, an innocent Palestinian child believed to have been killed at by Israeli soldiers. The first documentary by Schapira suggests that al-Durrah might have been killed by Palestinian gunmen, but she says there is no evidence to support this. Her second suggestion was there were two teenagers killed the area on the same day, and it is possible that they were confused.

In 2007, she won the Buber-Rosenzweig-Medaille with Georg M. Hafner, and a commendation during Prix Europa for the Theo van Gogh documentary.
