In the 2004-05 season of Serie A, Rullo ahead Abruzzese in the left back position under the new manager Zdenek Zeman who was replaced by Delio Rossi. The team had only one right the winger, Marco Cassetti, instead of 3 or 2 during the previous season that also resulted in the exile of Tonetto.

In January 2007 he left for fellow Serie B side Napoli for €1.5 million and Lecce signed Alberto Giuliatto from Treviso as replacement. Rullo signed a 4½ year contract. Rullo worked as understudy of Mirko Savini that season and finished as runner-up and promoted to Serie A.

With Napoli at Serie A, Rullo remained as Savini’s backup, despite wore no.3 shirt. On 26 June 2008 he was loaned to Serie B side Triestina. Napoli later signed Salvatore Aronica to feature as the new left central back or youth product Luigi Vitale (2ho took the no.3 shirt) as left wingback ahead Savini.

Rullo was made Serie A debut on 31 August 2003, against Lazio in the opening game for 2003-04 Serie A. He began the match as the winger alongside Max Tonetto and Giuseppe Abruzzese in the left back position. He was replaced with Alessandro Budel at half time because the team was already losing to a 0-3 loss at the time. He was also in the starting line-up for four additional Serie A matches that season and 3 of them as a the winger.
