She is a specialist in long-distance and middle-distance running, and has competed in 1500m 3,000 metres and 5000 metres, as well as 10,000 metres, and also cross-country running. Gorecka is currently the European Junior 3000m champion and was trained by Mick Woods from 2006 up until 2015. Her coach is Chris Thompson.

On December 8, 2013 Gorecka placed 1st in the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia with a comfortably victory over Polish athlete Sofia Ennaoui. She ran the time of 13:06. The race was telecast on BBC 2 and was televised across 11 countries.

The first year she was with Aldershot, Farnham & District AC had a diagnosis of scoliosis, an illness of the body that indicates that she was curve in the spine. This caused some of her fundamental movements difficult, such as being able to move her arms with ease. In Gorecka’s situation, the scoliosis was a genetic issue and has nothing to do with running. Gorecka stated “This diagnosis initially meant nothing to me – it was unnoticeable and it didn’t seem to affect me in the slightest”.

Her athletics journey began at Dorking as well as Mole Valley Athletic Club, at the age of 11, she showed early promise, beating girls a few times her age in her local races. After 2006, she made the move towards her club of choice, Aldershot, Farnham and District Athletic Club. She is a resident of Bookham, Surrey. After securing a variety of youth championships at the national level Gorecka enjoyed her first international win during the European Cross Country Championships, which saw her win an Olympic silver medal for the junior race. She also was the top European Junior at the World Cross Country Championships the following year. At the 2010 European Cross Country Championships she won the junior women’s race , and helped lead Britain towards victory during the team race.

In 2008, she was able to see that her health was deteriorating and she having two curves, namely 34 and 27 degrees, which was displayed as a somewhat disfigured ‘S’ on an x-ray. Her doctor advised her that she’d need to wear a brace to help her back support as she reached the peak of her growth as an adolescent. It was also suggested that she may not be able to devote enough time in the brace every week to keep exercising. She explained “This was the first time in my life where I was struck silent. In that split second I decided I would never let anyone tell me that there was anything that was out of my reach”. The final outcome was that she was capable of removing the brace and spend 10 hours a week to race and train.

Górecka came 3rd in her senior debut at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country on 11 January 2014, helping team GB & NI win the International team challenge. The three-time European junior cross-country champion followed Great Britain women’s captain Gemma Steel for much of the race, before slipping to third place on the final lap. Afterwards, she said “There was definitely no fear… I didn’t really know what to expect; I knew I was in good shape but I just wanted to be taken around [the course] by the girls. I didn’t expect to get in the front but I felt good… the last lap was a bit of a struggle but my strength will hopefully come on in the next couple of years. It’s good platform to build on, coming third, so I’m really happy.” And Górecka also said she wants one last victory as a junior before concentrating on moving up to the adult ranks: “I’m still a junior for the national cross-country, so I’d love to go there to get my eighth consecutive win… then I will go on to do some senior races, maybe some indoors, and then onto the track, but hopefully I will keep going quicker.”
