Ella Keighery Hooper (born 30 January 1983) is an Australian rock music performer-songwriter, radio host and TV presenter. Hooper is the lead vocalist in the band Killing Heidi. The group was formed in the year 1996 (when Ella was 13) and also included her elder sister Jesse Hooper. Their most popular songs included “Mascara” (no. 1 30 January 2000 Australian chart), “Live Without It” (no. 5 23, April 2000) as well as “Weir” (no. 6 19 Dec 1999). The Killing Heidi was disbanded in the year 2006. Ella as well as Jesse have appeared in smaller gigs as an acoustic duo, The Verses. Ella is currently a radio host at 2DayFM and was among two captains on the short-lived revivals on the ABC TV program Spicks and Specks that commenced in February 2014.

Following the break-up of Killing Heidi ended their collaboration during the year 2006 Hooper started playing small-scale acoustic shows in small venues across Australia along with Jesse and The Verses. In mid-2006 , she performed in Australia with the female-only musical group Broad along with Australian pop artist Deborah Conway, among others.

He was born at Melbourne, Victoria to Helen Keighery and Jeremy Hooper. Hooper was raised living in Violet Town, a small township in the countryside (950 inhabitants) 175 km to the north of Melbourne. After completing Violet Town primary school, Hooper travelled 27 km via coach for Benalla High School (called Benalla College from 1994) until the end of Year 11. Her parents served as English and drama instructors, and they encouraged Hooper to work on her songwriting abilities while Jesse began to become a guitarist early. The Hooper siblings composed and performed songs in the 1996 Triple J competition and won with “Kettle”. Hooper relocated to Melbourne following the time Killing Heidi was signed on to a record deal with Wah the Wah Music’s Paul Kosky and Chris Robinson. The band came out with “Weir” as their first single in August of 1999. Hooper dropped out of secondary school to focus on touring with Killing Heidi.
Hooper was an artist in Killing Heidi, Hooper won four ARIA Awards in 2000: “Album of the Year” for Reflector, “Best Group”, “Breakthrough Artist – Album” and “Best Rock Group”. Along with Jesse, Hooper was awarded APRA 2001 Songwriter of the Year.
Ella decided to embark on a solo career after a conversation with Stevie Nicks. She released her first solo single “Low High” on 9 November 2012. The single was produced and recorded by Jan Skubizewski (Owl Eyes, Illy, Way of the Eagle) in his Collingwood studio. The song featured a guest performance by horror-country act, Graveyard Train.
