From 2010 until 2015, Beck was the head coach of Japanese team Toyota Alvark. He was awarded JBL coach of the year awards in the 2011-12 season following his leadership in leading the team to a championship and guiding Alvark to the second spot in 2014-15. He was the Head Coach of the Toyota Antelopes in the Women’s Japan Basketball League from 2015 until 2018. He then was appointed head coach for Toyama Grouses of the Toyama Grouses of Japan’s B.League in July of 2018.

In his seven-year stint at German Basketball Bundesliga side TVG Trier (1994-2001), Beck led the team to 2 German Cup titles (1998 and 2001) and also a trip the Bundesliga semifinals in 1998. The year 2001 saw Beck was appointed head coach of the fellow Bundesliga side EWE Baskets Oldenburg, where he remained until May 2007. Beck was later named the head manager of Euphony Bree in Belgium until January 2009 , and was head coach of Eiffel Towers Den Bosch, part of the Dutch top flight Eredivisie between January 2009 until April 2010.

Beck began his coaching career playing on the sidelines as an head coach assistant at Santa Barbara City College in 1978. Other assistant coach assignments came from Bentley College, Rutgers University and Fresno State University before taking his first position as head coach in Santa Barbara City College in 1989, when he was the head coach of the women’s soccer team.
