Dominique Gaumont is one of the most popular and richest French jazz guitarist who was born on January 8, 1953 in Saint-Mandé, Île-de-France, France. Dominique Gaumont was born on 8 January 1953 in Saint-Mande, Paris, son of Edouard Gaumont, a former Guyanese politician.
He passed away from an overdose of drugs on the 10th November 1983, at the age of thirty.
He was in 1974 when he received an invitation by musician Miles Davis to join his group and perform in across the United States. Davis has been quoted saying that “Dominique gave me that African rhythmic thing”. Gaumont was featured in Dark Magus, recorded in March 1974 in the New York’s Carnegie Hall, and recorded with Davis in subsequent studio sessions. They were included on the album”Get Up with It and the later release of the archive The Complete On the Corner Sessions. Gaumont was back in Paris in the year 1975, where he formed his own group, Le Dominique Gaumont Energy together in collaboration with Lucien Sombe (bass) and Joe Harmer (drums). They released their album Le Dominique Gaumont Energy.
