Jean has been assigned to Fort Lauderdale Yankees to start the 1992 season. He pitched for the majority of the year with them however, at the conclusion of the season, he moved to Double-A Albany Colonie Yankees for a single start.

Jean began the 1994 season in the minor leagues of his Triple-A Tucson Toros. But, due injury, Jean played in only six games. The following year, he was scheduled to start playing with Tucson however, he was transferred with the Texas Rangers in May. The team he was placed in is the Oklahoma City 89ers, where the pitcher pitched as an reliever and a starter. But, he only went 3-8 and had an ERA of 6.14. At the end of the season He was signed from The Cincinnati Reds organization, where played in two games for their team, the Indianapolis Indians.

After spending 1998 in the Colorado Rockies organization, Jean signed with the independent Bridgeport Bluefish in 1999. In 2000, he returned to the Yankees’ organization, where he spent the next three seasons between the Double-A Norwich Navigators and Triple-A Columbus Clippers. In 2003, Jean pitched his final professional season with the Langosteros de Cancún of the Mexican League.

Jean was signed initially to the Chicago White Sox as an amateur free agent in the year 1989. He started playing professionally with the GCL White Sox the following season. He also played with the South Bend White Sox. On the 10th of January, 1992 Jean was dealt with the Yankees as part of a deal for Steve Sax.

The year 1993 was a busy one for Jean. Jean was a part-time player at three minor leagues before making his debut in the major leagues in August 8, 1993. The game he pitched that day was with Minnesota Twins. Minnesota Twins, pitching 6.2 innings, and surrendering four runs. While Jean was not able to get a decision but the Yankees took the win 8-6. In his next game on August 14th , he was scheduled for the Yankee pitching debut at the stadium on Reggie Jackson day against the Baltimore Orioles and got stuck in traffic on the George Washington bridge so he took a car and made his way to Yankee Stadium. He took about a half hour before the first pitch. He pitched five innings and gave up two runs in the game. In a no-decision, the Yankees won the game 4-2. The Yankees earned their only major league victory on August 20 against the Kansas City Royals, pitching seven innings and allowing only two runs. He ended the season with a record of 1-0 with an 4.46 ERA. Jean was the only to be a New York Yankee player to wear the number 42 prior to when Mariano Rivera donned it in 1995.

In 1996, Jean was converted to a full-time reliever. He spent most of the year with the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts, where he compiled 31 saves in just 39 games. He returned to Chattanooga the following year, but after posting an ERA of 9.75 in 10 games he was let go.
